IISPIG Pixel Latin: pixel fonts made from Wine's Tahoma-compatible bitmap strikes ================================================================================ What : vector (pixel-square) web fonts, one per bitmap strike, for the Latin text of iispig.com (the Chinese forum and the English page). Source : Wine, fonts/tahoma.sfd (FontForge SFD), copied unchanged into source/ next to this notice: source/tahoma.sfd 649240 bytes, sha256 0c1a3182a3a6b3d444113421121cbacf87322111aff245ee616109bd47479710 git blob 466f250496337045bbd574741c8698407dce8719 from https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/raw/master/fonts/tahoma.sfd (Wine's master branch, downloaded 2026-10-18); the same bytes by blob id: https://gitlab.winehq.org/api/v4/projects/wine%2Fwine/repository/blobs/466f250496337045bbd574741c8698407dce8719/raw source/tahomabd.sfd 621648 bytes, sha256 90e42b98fc092034e6485a7f8f811195ca2ca148b6704e5d2df56a4c97dfca49 git blob dacd3ae05c775091b81c238a6839fb3381fe28d4: Wine's other Tahoma SFD, published here too; no font in this folder is made from it. Licence : GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or (at your option) any later version (LGPL-2.1.txt, Wine-LICENSE.txt). The source fonts are based on Bitstream Vera Sans, so the Bitstream Vera licence also applies (Bitstream-Vera-LICENSE.txt: copyright, trademark and permission notice). As that licence requires of modified fonts, the font names contain neither "Bitstream" nor "Vera". "Tahoma" (a trademark of Microsoft Corporation) is not used in any font name either; it appears here only as the name of Wine's source files. Name ID 13 of every font keeps the upstream LGPL notice of the SFD files verbatim (licence and absence of warranty) and adds a note on Bitstream Vera. Licence URL : https://iispig.com/fonts/latin/licenses/ (name ID 14) MODIFICATIONS (LGPL-2.1 section 2(b): notice of changes and their date) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Modified by iispig.com with sfd-bitmap-to-ttf.py (a copy is in this folder; it needs the packages in sfd-bitmap-to-ttf-requirements.txt). Generator: fontTools 4.67.0, brotli 1.2.0. Conversion rules last changed : 2026-10-18 These files built : 2026-10-18 1. Each listed bitmap strike was converted to TrueType outlines: every set pixel became a 100 x 100 unit square and touching squares were merged into one outline. Apart from the glyphs moved as a whole in item 7, no pixel was added, removed or moved; the build checks every glyph by rasterising it back. Advance widths are the strike's own (except item 7). 2. unitsPerEm = 100 x the CSS pixel size the font is meant for, so one bitmap pixel is one CSS pixel at that size (the 15 px strike is drawn for 14px). 3. Vertical metrics (hhea, OS/2) set to the line metrics of the WenQuanYi face used at the same size (12/14px: ascent 12 + descent 3 px; 16px: 14 + 4); 10px, which has no WenQuanYi face: the strike's 8 + 2 plus one row (9 + 2). Underline 1 px, 1 px below the baseline. A .notdef box (never shown with the unicode-range in use) was added. 4. Reduced to the characters listed below; dropped: all other glyphs, the outline glyphs, other strikes, kerning and OpenType layout, hinting, VDMX, glyph names. Also left out: ‘ ’ “ ” (IISPIG Pixel Latin 10, IISPIG Pixel Latin 12, IISPIG Pixel Latin 15, IISPIG Pixel Latin 16): Wine's 13/15/16 px opening quotes are broken upstream (‘ 1 px, “ 5 px against 4 and 8 for ’ ”); WenQuanYi supplies all curly quotes at every size, as in option (a). Also left out: « » ‹ › (IISPIG Pixel Latin 10): upstream 10 px: « (rows 0-4) sits 1 px lower than » (rows 1-5); ‹ is 4 rows, › 3. 5. Spaces: where a strike has no space glyph (11 px and up) or a 0 px no-break space (16 px), the advance is round(px x outline advance / 2048), as FreeType does for a glyph missing from a strike. 6. Renamed (name table rewritten: IDs 0-6, 8-11, 13, 14; ID 13 keeps the upstream licence notice verbatim and adds a note); converted to WOFF2. 7. Moved (2026-10-18), metrics only: the strikes draw j (and J) with the hook at x >= 0, so the stem stands right of i's (I's) and the gap before the letter is close to a word space; the SFD outline has i's and j's stems in the same place. Each glyph below was moved left as a whole (pixels unchanged, the hook now overhangs the origin) and its advance reduced by the same amount, so the right side bearing is unchanged: IISPIG Pixel Latin 10: j 1 px left (stem over i's), advance 3 -> 2 px IISPIG Pixel Latin 12: j 1 px left (stem over i's), advance 3 -> 2 px IISPIG Pixel Latin 12: J 1 px left (stem over I's), advance 5 -> 4 px IISPIG Pixel Latin 15: j 1 px left (stem over i's), advance 4 -> 3 px IISPIG Pixel Latin 15: J 1 px left (stem over I's), advance 6 -> 5 px IISPIG Pixel Latin 16: j 2 px left (stem over i's), advance 5 -> 3 px IISPIG Pixel Latin 16: J 1 px left (stem over I's), advance 7 -> 6 px FILES ----- pxl10r.2eea4997.woff2 3092 bytes sha256 2eea4997476040ce4a3d617afbda369826ba9e42d696e730a0b29f215c364423 IISPIG Pixel Latin 10: 10 px regular strike of tahoma.sfd, for font-size:10px, ascent/descent 9/2 px, 101 characters characters: U+0020-007E,U+00A0,U+00A9,U+00B7,U+2013-2014,U+2026 pxl12r.7d839af3.woff2 3568 bytes sha256 7d839af32399cc3cdb0749c2177c6f596dab8148e53fb02b6c44a4310f39f302 IISPIG Pixel Latin 12: 12 px regular strike of tahoma.sfd, for font-size:12px, ascent/descent 12/3 px, 105 characters characters: U+0020-007E,U+00A0,U+00A9,U+00AB,U+00B7,U+00BB,U+2013-2014,U+2026,U+2039-203A synthesised: U+0020 advance 4 px = round(12 x 639 / 2048) (not in strike) pxl15r-at14.13ce71ce.woff2 3888 bytes sha256 13ce71ce9949fd7e14d1523c68fc56390865e97433654bd839f91fca5f07f5f0 IISPIG Pixel Latin 15: 15 px regular strike of tahoma.sfd, for font-size:14px, ascent/descent 12/3 px, 105 characters characters: U+0020-007E,U+00A0,U+00A9,U+00AB,U+00B7,U+00BB,U+2013-2014,U+2026,U+2039-203A synthesised: U+0020 advance 5 px = round(15 x 639 / 2048) (not in strike) pxl16r.43264edb.woff2 4096 bytes sha256 43264edb2f248e65cc49bd19d4cae54110b6148a33783b29410cfd999bac8124 IISPIG Pixel Latin 16: 16 px regular strike of tahoma.sfd, for font-size:16px, ascent/descent 14/4 px, 105 characters characters: U+0020-007E,U+00A0,U+00A9,U+00AB,U+00B7,U+00BB,U+2013-2014,U+2026,U+2039-203A synthesised: U+0020 advance 5 px = round(16 x 639 / 2048) (not in strike) synthesised: U+00A0 advance 5 px = round(16 x 639 / 2048) (0 px in strike) SOURCE CODE (LGPL-2.1 section 4) -------------------------------- The preferred form for modification is the SFD file(s) in source/ plus the converter. sfd-bitmap-to-ttf.py: Copyright (c) 2026 iispig.com, licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License 2.1 or (at your option) any later version (LGPL-2.1.txt), like the fonts.
